Lucija Muehlenbachs is the 2019 CWEC Young Researcher Award Recipient
Biennially, CWEC awards the CWEC Young Researcher Prize to a female junior economist in Canada judged by the selection committee to have the best research record. The 2019 prize was awarded to Lucija Muehlenbachs.
Dr. Muehlenbachs is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Calgary. She obtained her PhD from the University of Maryland in 2009, and joined the University of Calgary in 2014. Dr. Muehlenbachs specializes in environmental and resource economics, with expertise in the oil and gas sector. She has published articles in the American Economic Review, the International Economic Review, the Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, and other prominent journals. Her highly cited and policy-relevant studies using data from the Marcellus Shale have made her a leader in the empirical analysis of the environmental and economic consequences of shale gas development. |
